why do you need your hair to be straight? I am an African-American as well and I do not perm my hair at all. The ingredients in relaxer are not healthy for hair at all, they PERManently damage the natural curl pattern completely and weaken the hair over time so that it becomes brittle and fragile, slowing (or stopping) growth.



You need to learn how to take care of your own hair, and take pride in your coils and kinks. Straight hair is no more beautiful than "kinky" hair, and either way you wear your coiffure it is going to take a lot of patience and attention. If you can't manage your hair now what makes you think a perm will help you?



I advise you to go to a salon (either Black or Domincan) and get a blowout or a "wash-and-set" as it's called. They wash the hair, then use rollers and a blow dryer (not good for hair in excess), to straighten the hair and add lots of great volume. In my area they range from 15-25 dollars in price, and the style lasts up to 2 weeks if you take care of it.

Perming your hair will straighten your hair dramactically. Get optimum relaxer which is the most expensive and best on the market shelves. Its around 7 dollars and its a full kit. In between perms u can straighten your hair naturally
No one gets a perm anymore. Go back to the 1980's if you want a perm
